Read about Restore Hope Foundation in The Island Eyes News: Restoring Hope By Brian Sherman, Island Eye News Managing Editor

Hope Town, Elbow Cay, Abaco

Hope Town, Elbow Cay, Abaco, Bahamas found itself at first landfall of the devastating Hurricane Dorian on September 1, 2019. Homes and buildings were destroyed or severely damaged, boats of all sizes tossed onto land or sunk, trunks of palm trees were twisted off, and debris became missiles in a frenzy of destruction. This monster storm turned the quiet, picturesque Hope Town and the entire island of Elbow Cay inside out and upside down. Gusting over 220 mph with sustained winds of 185 mph, it blasted the island over a three day period.

Our Mission

Restore Hope Foundation was established in 2019 to support the build back of Elbow Cay and the Settlement of Hope Town.  Four years on, we have witnessed an extraordinary recovery and are pleased to have contributed to many restoration projects including, most recently, rebuilding the Burial Society Building and the Beryl Patterson Memorial Garden structures.  We have applied all funds raised to date on Elbow Cay projects.  Meantime we were approached by a group led by the Rt Hon John Pinder MP to take on the leadership of the Foundation and widen its objectives to encompass projects for improvement across the Abacos.

Details will follow in due course of the new officers and the Foundation plans for the Abacos.

Meantime we wish to thank all those who have generously supported the Foundation and the restoration of Elbow Cay.  It has been an extraordinary journey and the island is hugely improved thanks to all the donations and the support we have received.
