Hope Town, Elbow Cay, Abaco

Hope Town, Elbow Cay, Abaco, Bahamas found itself at first landfall of the devastating Hurricane Dorian on September 1, 2019. Homes and buildings were destroyed or severely damaged, boats of all sizes tossed onto land or sunk, trunks of palm trees were twisted off, and debris became missiles in a frenzy of destruction. This monster storm turned the quiet, picturesque Hope Town and the entire island of Elbow Cay inside out and upside down. Gusting over 275 mph with sustained winds of 185 mph, it blasted the island over a three day period.

Our Mission

Restore Hope Foundation’s mission is to build back Elbow Cay and the Settlement of Hope Town through partnerships with donors, locals and second homeowners. Business owners and local council officials. Help restore this beautiful Abaco island! TOGETHER we are piecing it back together, with individual philanthropy and grants from supportive foundations, we are restoring Elbow Cay step by step. So much has been achieved already; much has yet to be done:
yet more debris clearance, building restoration is ongoing, local businesses need support – you may even have your own restoration project to propose and support.
